BLACK GIRLS ROCK! Master Class For Poetry & Creative Writing
This series of writing workshops engage young women around the themes of sisterhood, self-love, empowerment, current events, critical literacy, and social change theory. Students will participate in creative and analytical writing workshops, group discussions and collaborative / individual performance projects. The exploration of visual and performing arts, literature, digital media, and radio content seeks to draw out the root of larger socio-cultural issues that impact the self-esteem and positive identity development of women and girls. These explorations will catalyze each young lady to consider her own healing, gain a deeper and more profound understanding of self, discover a voice that is inherent to her unique perspective and life experience, and cultivate stronger writing & communication skills.
